It will go into how analysis differs/the analysis approach we use at the Calgary Homeless Foundation and some of the ongoing data management techniques we focus on. Finally, it will highlight how we look to see if our data efforts are adding value to the homeless serving system of care (HSSC). **Bio:** Sam Elliott is an experienced data professional, who believes data should strive to best reflect reality and that the quantitative & qualitative should work in tandem. Currently leading the Data & HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) teams at Calgary Homeless Foundation, he joined the organization in 2020 and has been serving as Director, Data & Analytics since February 2022. In previous roles, he worked in the start-up sphere leading analytics implementation & digital marketing efforts. He is a Certified Data Management Professional and currently serves on the National Homelessness Data Advisory Committee. **🎤 Adriano Leite, Product Manager @ Motiv** **Title: Mapping Opportunity: Building Insightful Dashboards for Community Growth and Business Success** **Description:** In this presentation, we’ll explore how data-driven dashboards can empower business owners to make strategic decisions on new locations based on demographic insights and competition. Starting with an interactive Power BI dashboard that visualizes Calgary's neighborhood data—population volumes, age demographics, and business density—I'll demonstrate how this tool was designed to support business owners in identifying optimal areas for growth. We’ll discuss the social impact of data in fostering local business success and then dive into the technical journey behind the dashboard. From understanding the core problem to selecting datasets, running ETL processes, building a dimensional model, and defining metrics, I'll guide you through each step in creating actionable, community-focused data insights. **Bio:** As Product Manager at Motiv, Adriano brings a blend of creativity, structure, and business intelligence to crafting data-driven products tailored to partner needs.
